The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal against the decisions made by the Court of Appeal and Federal High Court in Kaduna. The dismissal comes shortly after a suit calling for the disqualification of a lawmaker from being the standard-bearer of the Kaduna APC’s governorship seat in the upcoming elections was also dismissed by the Kaduna High Court. The APC’s counsel, Sule Shuaibu Esq, a former Kaduna State NBA Chairman, confirmed the latest verdict.
Earlier, the NNPP had filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Kaduna, challenging INEC’s acceptance and uploading of the names of all APC candidates in Kaduna State for allegedly violating the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022. The Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal in Kaduna Division had both dismissed the suit and appeal. With the judgment of the Supreme Court, no political party can sue another political party in pre-election cases.
The APC governorship flagbearer has now won all suits challenging their eligibility to fly the party’s governorship flag this year.
