A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday sentenced Faisal Maina, son of the former Chairman of defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTT)Abdulrasheed Maina, to 14 years in prison.

Justice Okon Abang, in his judgment, held that Faisal, who was sentenced in absentia, was guilty of all the three-count charges against him.

The younger Maina received the sentence, from Justice Abang who delivered in the suit filed by the Federal Government against Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina, on money laundering charges.

Faisal was arraigned in court on charges bordering on money laundering, after which he jumped bail and refused to attend trial since November 24, 2020.

Justice Abang in his judgment, sentenced Faisal to five years for Count one, 14 years for count two and another five years for count three. The terms are to run concurrently.

Justice Abang also ordered that Faisal return to the Federal Government, the sum of N58.1m and the company used, to wind up.

Justice Abang also ordered the Federal Government to arrest Faisal wherever he is found in Nigeria and commit him to a correctional Center.

He however ordered that if he is arrested outside Nigeria, the Federal Government should lawfully extradite him to face his sentence.

It will be recalled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alerted the court on February 24 that Faisal was on the run to the United States Of America (USA)
